For Ricardo Bottome, real estate has won out over slacklines and hanging tents.

The founder of Slackline Industries, a Boulder-based slackline equipment company, sold the company this month for an undisclosed amount to Canadian distributor In-Sport Fashions. And he’s on the hunt for a buyer for his other brand, TreePod.

“I’ve also started a different business doing real estate syndication and property management and needed to let go of one of the two because there are not enough hours in the week,” Bottome said.

Slackline Industries products are sold in 10 countries and at more than 200 retail locations in the U.S., according to a news release. Bottome founded the company in 2014.

TreePods are tents that campers tie to an overhead point and then strap to a car hitch, tree or another anchor to suspend the tent a few feet above the ground. The company raised $90,000 through a Kickstarter campaign in 2015.

“We’re going to continue operations until we find a buyer,” Bottome said. “TreePod was my design. (I) got it patented. So I’m vested in seeing it find a new home.”

The two brands have been operated under a parent company called Canaima Outdoors.

When TreePod sells, Bottome said he will focus on Tepuy Properties, which he founded in 2013. The company owns properties in Boulder and surrounding cities, including the 25,784-square-foot building at 5277 Manhattan Circle in Boulder that Canaima Outdoors has called home since 2016.

“We’re up to 12 properties, 330,000 square feet, 61 tenants,” Bottome said. “So that has become a full-time job.”
