The former head of a Broomfield-based telecommunications company recently put his mega-mansion on the market — again.
James Crowe, who was CEO of Level 3 Communications from 1998 to 2013, is asking $11.9 million for his 24,000-square-foot home at 5000 E. Quincy Ave. in Cherry Hills Village.
It’s at least the third time Crowe has tried to unload the 9-acre property. In 2017, he was asking $16 million. And in 2010, The Denver Post reported that he had put the mansion on the market a year prior, initially asking $22.9 million before dropping the price to $18.9 million.
Despite its hefty price tag, the home is not the most expensive listing in Cherry Hills Village. Another mega-mansion at 8 Cherry Hills Park Drive, totaling 32,200 square feet, has been on the market a year and is asking $19.75 million. And at 7 Cantitoe Lane, a 15,800-square-foot home is listed for $11.9 million.
Address: 5000 E. Quincy Ave.
List price: $11.9 million
Stats: The property features a 24,000-square-foot mansion with six bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, a 10-car garage and a 550-square-foot horse stable, all situated atop 8.7 acres.
The finer things: The Santa Barbara-style mega-mansion is complete with stone floors, mahogany finishes and a two-story library. Its custom chef’s kitchen, large bar, 1,400-square-foot living room and two dining rooms equip the home for entertaining “on a grand scale,” the listing said.
Each of its six bedrooms offers bathrooms ensuite and private balconies. The master bedroom boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, fireplace, sitting area and five-piece bath. Its walk-out basement includes a 2,500-square-foot home gym, and six fireplaces are dispersed throughout the estate.
The property’s 8-acre yard offers a full playground, multiple grills, wet bar, sprawling covered patios and multiple large ponds complete with fountains and stone statues. Its 10-car garage includes its own car wash.
Seller: James Q. Crowe and Pamela L. Ten, who purchased the property for $7.8 million in 1998, according to Arapahoe County records.
