Oil and gas ventures such as Flat River Minerals, which raised $102 million, contributed to the large haul last month.
Startups based in Denver raised $74 million, while Boulder startups raised $40 million. Startups across the rest of the state raised a total of $158 million.
Each month, BusinessDen tallies Form Ds filed with the SEC, which detail investment rounds reported by companies. BusinessDen defines a startup as a company that’s 10 years old or less and excludes publicly traded companies, real estate ventures and funds.
Including nonstartups, Colorado companies raised a collective $502 million last month.
