A small chain of Denver sandwich shops no longer is operating.

Fat Jack’s Supersubs has closed its locations in LoHi, Baker and Auraria.

A sign posted on the door of the LoHi location, at 3326 Tejon St., simply reads “Out of Business.” An employee of a neighboring business said the location closed last week, apparently at the same time as the others.

The Fat Jack’s website was down on Monday, and phone numbers associated with the restaurants no longer worked. No one responded to a message sent to the company’s Facebook page.

Brothers Jeff and Ryan Ward founded Fat Jack’s in 2000, and the first location was on East Colfax Avenue. In 2012, the Wards sold the business to Kyle and Brooke Fabra. The couple expanded the business; when the Broadway restaurant opened in February 2016, it was the chain’s sixth location. Kyle Fabra said at the time he had a five-year lease for the space.

Fat Jack’s footprint has shrunk in recent years, leaving the three locations that just closed, at 3326 Tejon St., 450 Broadway and 906 Curtis St. On Monday, Kyle Fabra said in a Facebook message he sold the business “over a year ago,” and that the business subsequently traded hands again.

On LinkedIn and Facebook, a man named Geoffrey Coleman lists himself as the owner of Fat Jack’s. He did not respond to a request for comment.

One response to “Chain of Denver sandwich shops closes”

  1. As a loyal customer at the LoHi location, I noticed a lot of changes over the last few months. I went in one day and was told they had no food. Their delivery did not come in. What? The staff appeared as perplexed as I was. The of late disorganized staff (always someone new), stale bread which previously was always fresh and lack of drinks, chips, etc. alerted me that something was definitely going on.
Too bad the business closed, they had great sandwiches and will be missed in the neighborhood.
