An Atlanta-based multifamily real estate firm is looking to add Denver and Phoenix to its portfolio.
Pollack Shores Real Estate Group has hired Kim Sperry to lead an expansion into the two markets, working from the Mile High City.
Sperry previously was a managing director with Amstar, where she was involved with the assembling and development of 2785 Speer in Jefferson Park and Verve in LoDo, and the sourcing of The Coloradan. She said she joined Pollack Shores at the end of August, and is tasked with identifying multifamily development and acquisition opportunities in Denver and Phoenix.
“We’re more focused on development opportunities, but are also looking at acquisition opportunities that would be more of a value-add execution,” Sperry said.
Pollack Shores has developed 28 apartment complexes and purchased 36 others since Steven Shores and Marc Pollack founded it in 2006. The company’s portfolio is currently focused on the southeastern United States. Sperry said the company made several acquisitions in Texas last year.
“I think to a certain degree they feel it’s a natural progression,” she said of the company’s interest in Phoenix and Denver.
Pollack Shores also does property management for apartment complexes owned by other companies under the Matrix Residential brand. Sperry said that comes after the company already has its own complexes in a city.
Sperry said Pollack Shores typically develops and acquires complexes with between 200 and 400 units.
She said she has been working remotely, but expects to establish a WeWork presence soon. The company will make additional hires once it has local projects, she said.
