An outdoor retailer is trading a Cherry Creek storefront for the mall across the street.

The North Face plans to leave its current location at 100 Detroit St. in November, a company spokesman said Tuesday.

Nick LeMasters, general manager of the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, said the retailer will take 5,000 square feet in the lower level of the mall, near Nordstrom.

The space used to be part of the jewelry company Tiffany and Co.

“That space has remained vacant for some time,” LeMasters said. “We have purposefully allowed it to remain vacant for some time to make room for the right retailer.”

The move comes on the heels of the announcement that The North Face’s central offices will move to Denver from San Francisco as part of parent company VF Corp.’s headquarters relocation.

The North Face isn’t the only Cherry Creek retailer moving to the shopping center. Jewelry maker Alex and Ani, currently at 2827 E. 3rd Ave., makes the jump to the mall this month, LeMasters said.

Other new additions to Cherry Creek Shopping Center include San Francisco-based candy shop Lolli and Pops, as well as several businesses that started as internet retailers.

Companies that started in the mall as popup operations and now have their own stores there include mattress maker Casper and stationary bike company Peloton.

“The bigger story is clicks to bricks,” LeMasters said. “When they look to Denver, they look to us, and we’re thrilled.”
