Chicago-based deep dish pizza chain Giordano’s is coming to Denver.
A franchisee has leased 5,200 square feet at 1600 California St., along the 16th Street Mall.
Todd Winston, managing member of franchisee 3G3 LoDo, said the goal is to open this summer.
The 1600 California St. property, owned by Denver-based Gart Properties, is dubbed the California Mall building.
Target plans to open in the building’s upper two floors later this year. Giordano’s will join Chipotle, Red Robin Express, Einstein Bros. Bagels and Great Clips on the first floor.
“It’s close to the convention center, close to the performing arts center, and plus we do a very robust catering and event business, so it’s great to be along all the office buildings on 17th Street,” Winston said.
Broker Grant Maves with Sullivan Hayes represented 3G3 LoDo in the transaction.
Winston said his company hopes to open additional locations in Denver and elsewhere in Colorado in the future.
Founded in 1974, Giordano’s has locations in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada and Ohio, according to its website.
Pizzerias that already operate along the 16th Street Mall include Mellow Mushroom, Lucky Pie Pizza and Tap House, and Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta.
