A workout perfected on the coasts is looking inland.

Los Angeles-based Barry’s Bootcamp is hustling to find a location for its first Denver gym. And the chain is sniffing around Cherry Creek, according to several sources familiar with the its real estate search.

Barry’s was founded in 1998 by Barry Jay, a celebrity trainer from L.A. who developed a workout blending strength training and cardio. Barry’s has 42 gyms in 21 cities listed on its website.

The venture-backed fitness company offers classes for about $25 that combine treadmill running with weight training. Classes target different muscles on different days – Wednesdays are chest, back and abs, Thursdays are just abs and weekends are full-body workouts, according to its website.

In addition to treadmills, workouts incorporate medicine balls, steppers, free weights and resistance bands in a room that’s tinted with red light. Barry’s claims celebrities Ellie Goulding, David Beckham, Harry Styles and Mandy Moore have been clients.

Barry’s received an undisclosed round of funding from Connecticut-based North Castle partners in 2015, according to Crunchbase.

The company did not return calls seeking comment.

It will join a growing number of fitness companies eyeing Denver, including most recently New York-based SoulCycle, which is opening in Cherry Creek in the fall.
