Colby Rankin has had his eye on the commercial space next to his Platt Park Brewing Co. outpost.
Rankin, who co-founded the Platt Park brewery in 2013, signed a five-year lease for the 620-square-foot shop at 1871 S. Pearl St. with plans to open a cocktail bar next summer.
“I go all over town delivering kegs for the brewery, and I still think it’s the best neighborhood in Denver,” he said.
Rankin said he and his partners are still brainstorming details, but the bar will have a menu of classic cocktails.
He did not have an estimate on construction costs. He will use Intergroup Architects from Littleton and Pueblo-based Acorn Construction as the general contractor. The same companies did construction on Platt Park.
The group will seek private investors for the cocktail bar.
“It’s different from the investors at Platt Park, but there will be private funding,” Rankin said.
The bar does not have a name yet. With recent trademark disputes in the beer world, Rankin said, he wanted to be cautious in picking a name for the new venture.
