A blend of Denver business owners is looking to shake up the Mile High booze industry.
The Family Jones Spirit Room opens at 3245 Osage St. on Saturday, Nov. 11.
The distillery is run by a mix of Denver developers and restaurant industry gurus. Developer Paul Tamburello, who worked on the Olinger complex and founded Little Man Ice Cream, joined the project with entrepreneurs Jack Pottle and Denielle Nadeau.
The 2,000-square-foot space was purchased for $700,000 in 2013 by 1600 LLC, according to Denver property records. The organization is run by Tamburello, who also owns Generator Real Estate. The building formerly housed Mancinelli’s Market.
Rob Masters, the mind behind Spring44 and Epic Distilling Inc., will be the distiller at Family Jones. Justin Cucci, owner and chef of nearby Root Down, as well as Linger, Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox, Vital Root and El Five, is helping on the project as well.
The distillery already opened a production facility in Loveland. The building, at 1527 Taurus Court, was formerly home to Dancing Pines Distillery. Dancing Pines moved its production facility earlier this year to a new location in Berthoud. It also has tasting rooms in Estes Park and Breckenridge.
Family Jones will offer a lineup of gin, vodka and rum.
The bar and kitchen combo has chef and bar staff working side-by-side in an open space. The concept of the building was done by Denver-based Tres Birds Workshop, which also contributed to the lower level of Union Station.
