A San Francisco-based tech startup has found a more permanent residence in the Mile High City.

After two months in Union Station’s WeWork coworking space, Thanx, a free app providing loyalty reward programs, leased its own LoDo office at 1123 Auraria Parkway. The two-story, 7,600-square-foot space – with a rooftop patio for events – will house its sales and customer service employees.

“Most of the workforce wants to be in the LoDo area,” VP of sales Dave Collier said. “The proximity to lower-cost parking and the light rail has been a great fit.”

Collier said Thanx will hire five to eight people by yearend. It has 25 employees in Denver and said it is aiming for 60 in 2018. Thanx engineers will stay in San Francisco.

The startup moved into the Auraria office Oct. 1, Collier said. It is subleasing the space from Evolve Vacation Rental Network, which moved to 717 17th St. following an $11 million capital raise announced in June.

Cushman and Wakefield represented Thanx in the deal. Newmark Knight Frank represented the landlord.

Thanx provides customers with rewards at brick-and-mortar businesses, such as restaurants and car washes. For businesses, it sells an online platform to track customer data.

At the beginning of its Denver presence this summer, the startup only had two local customers. Now it has nine, including Native American fast-casual restaurant Tocabe and bicycle outfitter Treads.

“I think we would feel great if we could launch another 20 to 25 brands that are here locally in Colorado” in the first half of 2018, Collier said.

“If you think about what the internet has done for consumers, they can know everything about the business,” Collier said. “The business knows nothing about the customer … A lot of brick-and-mortar merchants still focus (just) on food and service.”
