Kindness Yoga has inked deals for two more studios in the heart of Denver.
The 7-year-old Denver yoga chain, which operates six yoga studios, plans to open in RiNo and Bonnie Brae this fall.
Chief marketing officer Jack Cuneo said the chain is taking over the Yoga Mat, a 1,200-square-foot space at 3563 Larimer St. That shop will open as Kindness RiNo on Oct. 1.
“We love being able to come in, acquire something and say, ‘Hey, we can support the teachers and students,’” Cuneo said.
Cuneo said the Yoga Mat location is a profitable studio space.
“It’s small, it has amazing natural light … it has off-street parking. Who has off-street parking in RiNo nowadays?”
In Bonnie Brae, Kindness has leased 1,500 square feet in the same building as the Campus Lounge at 701 S. University Blvd., aiming for a November opening. Bonnie Brae’s new studio follows the closure this year of Kindness’ Cherry Creek studio.
Denver-area yoga chains
- CorePower – 15
- Endorphin – 10
- Kindness Yoga – 6 (+2 planned)
- Yoga Pod – 5
“We’ve been looking for something for people in that neighborhood to practice,” Cuneo said.
Cuneo said Kindness is looking forward to the proximity to Campus Lounge, whose new owners are the same as Cap Hill’s City O’ City, where Kindness has another studio above the restaurant.
Kindness, which has budgeted $80,000 for the buildout of its Bonnie Brae studio, has hired Colorado Master Builders for the construction and design.
Cuneo said it funded the two studios through SBA loans and capital from its six studios in Capitol Hill, Platte Street, South Broadway, Hilltop, Stanley Marketplace and Golden.
At Kindness RiNo, Cuneo said, it will retain Yoga Mat instructors willing to stay. Kindness currently employs 103 yoga instructors, many of whom Cuneo said will start at Bonnie Brae.
On its website, Kindness monthly memberships cost $105, while annual memberships cost $1,100.
