The Centennial storefront of a chain pizzeria has served its last slice.
Mellow Mushroom closed shop on Sunday after an eight-year stint on a corner of The Streets at SouthGlenn. The Atlanta-based chain leaves behind two more locations in Colorado, one on the 16th Street Mall in Denver and a second in the Park Meadows mall.
The Centennial restaurant – with lighting displays resembling gigantic mushrooms sprouting on the ceiling of its dining room – was the chain’s first Colorado outpost in 2009. It opened its second spot downtown at 16th and Lawrence streets the following year.
A restaurant employee at the Park Meadows location on Thursday confirmed that the SouthGlenn store shuttered this week, but said the remaining pair would remain open.
Mellow Mushroom’s local franchisee did not return a message seeking comment.
