October brought a pair of $3 million home sales to Denver, but just northwest of the city a Boulder estate topped the charts by trading for nearly $6 million.
The $5.9 million mansion is a two-year-old, 9,000-square-foot home at 415 Lee Hill Drive in Boulder. The two-story home, and its five acres, sold on Oct. 7.
James Thomas at RE/MAZ Alliance-Boulder listed the property. The sprawling home site came with a pool, a barn and room for a fifth bedroom on the second floor. Horses are also free to roam on the property.
The seller was 415 Lee Hill Drive LLC and the buyer was Mountain Dragon LLC, according to Boulder County property records.
The four-story home at 992 South Franklin St. sits in a corner lot on the east side of Washington Park.
Back in Denver, the highest-priced home sale in the area last month was also the most expensive house to sell in Washington Park in nearly 30 years.

Metro Denver’s second-most expensive home sale in October was a property in Castle Rock, steps off the Country Club at Castle Pines golf course. The four-bedroom ranch sold for $2.76 million on Oct. 31.
Listing agent Laurie Brennan of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty said 1084 Country Club Estates Drive stands out because of its contemporary design by Woodley Architectural Group.
“Most of the homes in the neighborhood are fairly traditional,” said Brennan. “This one has a little bit more of a contemporary flare to it, but it’s what I would call warm contemporary.”

In place of the steel and concrete that can make contemporary design seem cool, Brennan said, this house feels warm because of dark, wood-paneled ceilings and indoor stone work. Brennan is partial to the hearth room, with a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the covered patio and terraces outside.
Built in 2008 on more than an acre, the house is part of a homeowner association that maintains three pools, tennis courts, trails and a fitness center. Monthly dues are $255 a month, according to the home’s entry in the multiple listing service.
The seller was Meyn Property Trust 1 and the buyers were Joseph and Denise Johnson, according to Douglas County property records.
