A new half-acre construction site has popped up on one of Denver’s busiest streets.
The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless has cleared a former bank building site at 2075 Broadway to make way for an affordable housing building. Plans submitted to the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority last year show a six-story building at the site with about 100 apartments.
The site currently is a patch of dirt, with construction equipment and an FCI Constructors sign wrapped around the property. It previously housed a vacant bank building constructed about 17 years ago, city records show.
The project, Renaissance Downtown Lofts, would have 96 one-bedrooms, four two-bedrooms and a live-in manager’s apartment, according to an application submitted to the CHFA in May 2015. The one-bedroom apartments range between 440 and 624 square feet.
Colorado Coalition for the Homeless representatives did not respond to phone messages by Friday evening.
