A block of LoDo is sitting a few stories lower.
Construction is humming along at Dairy Block, the Wazee Street development formerly known as Z Block, as crews dig into downtown for the property’s 394-car parking garage. Dairy Block will eventually include 250,000 square feet of office space, 60,000 square feet of retail space and a 172-room hotel.
Dairy Block broke ground in May with hopes of finishing in 2017. The project is being developed by McWhinney, Grand American Inc. and Sage Hospitality. All told, Dairy Block will cost about $150 million to build, McWhinney CEO Chad McWhinney said at the spring groundbreaking.
So far, industrial real estate firm Prologis has signed on for more than 70,000 square feet of office space. Sage Hospitality’s restaurant wing also plans to open its second Kachina Southwestern Grill restaurant at Dairy Block. Sage will also operate the hotel at 19th and Wazee streets.
The project is being financed with a loan from Bank of the Ozarks. Saunders Construction is Dairy Block’s general contractor.
