Starbucks is on a bender in Denver.
The coffee giant has applied for at least five liquor licenses in the city, with hearings scheduled over the next month for locations at the 16th Street Mall, in Cherry Creek and along Platte Street next to the REI.
A pair of new liquor license applications at 303 16th St. and 1416 Platte St. were filed about a month after Starbucks first asked Denver’s licensing board for permission to serve booze at its Larimer Square and 200 N. Fillmore St. locations.
A notice has also been posted out front of a planned Starbucks under construction at the 250 Columbine development, also in Cherry Creek.
Starbucks’ plan to sell beer and wine in Denver comes as the brand rolls out appetizers and alcohol menus at several stores nationwide. Taps start pouring at 4 p.m. and food items will include a cheese plate, meatballs, macaroni and cheese, bacon-wrapped dates and other quick-bite offerings.
So far Starbucks Evenings has hit coffeehouses in Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Portland, D.C. and Disney World.
