Starbucks wants to keep the buzz going a little later at two Denver shops.

The Seattle-based chain has applied for a liquor license at a downtown location at 1406 Larimer St. and Cherry Creek’s 200 N. Fillmore St. shop. The move comes as Starbucks rolls out alcohol and appetizers at several stores nationwide.

Starbucks Evenings is a beer, wine and appetizers menu the company has put in about 40 total stores. Happy hour starts at 4 p.m. and food items include a cheese plate, meatballs, macaroni and cheese, bacon-wrapped dates and a handful of other quick-bite offerings.

The Larimer and Fillmore street coffeehouses would be the first Denver locations to get the Evenings menu. So far only Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Portland, D.C. and Disney World have Evenings locations.

Starbucks did not say when it plans to add beer and wine at either of the two local cafes and declined to say if it planned to bring the new menu to any other Denver locations. Denver’s licensing authority will consider both liquor license applications at meetings later this month.

  1. The new Starbucks at 38th & Kipling in Wheat Ridge also has a liquor license pending per the permit notification hanging in its window.
