A downtown hotel is beefing up by adding its own workout space.
The Ritz-Carlton at 1881 Curtis St. is adding a 1,800-square-foot fitness center to its 202-room hotel. Work is underway, and the project is scheduled to finish sometime this summer, said Tiffany Gorman, sales and marketing director.
The gym will be built into the hotel’s spa level, replacing a salon Gorman said will be moved elsewhere in the building. Currently The Ritz-Carlton guests work out at the Tru Fit Athletic Club that shares the Curtis Street building with the hotel.
Gorman declined to say how much the hotel is spending to build its own gym facility, but about $470,000 worth of building permits were issued for the project last week.
